How do you save for vacations without feeling guilty?

Whenever I start setting aside money for a vacation, I can't help but feel a little guilty - like I should be putting that cash toward bills, savings, or something more "responsible." But at the same time, I really believe taking a break once in a while is important for mental health.

How do you balance it? Do you have a separate "fun" fund or a system that lets you save for trips without feeling bad about it? Would love to hear how others manage guilt-free vacation saving!

for me, it's all about planning vacations into my budget like any other goal. i set up a small automatic transfer to a "travel fund" every month - even if it's just a little - so when it's time to book a trip, i can enjoy it guilt-free knowing it's already paid for. it also helps to see it as an investment in rest and experiences, not a splurge.

how about you? do you usually save up in advance, or do you plan trips around deals and promos?

i stopped feeling guilty about vacation savings once i realized rest ispart of a healthy budget too. i treat travel as something i'm intentionally investing in, not splurging on. i usually save a fixed amount each month, just like any other ibll, so it doesn't feel like a big hit when it's time to book. plus, finding deals on flights and stays makes me feel even better about it - like i'm being responsible and rewarding myself.

I do a bit of both. I keep a dedicated travl fund that I contribute to regularly, but I also keep an eye out for deals and off-season promotions to stretch my budget further. That way, I can book trips without stress and smetimes even upgrade experiences without breaking the bank.

it's tough finding the balance between being financially responsible and still wanting to enjoy life. What's helped me is ncluding travel in my budget from the start, treating it like any other essential category. That way, I'm not dipping into savings or feeling guilty. It's money that's already set aside for fun. I also keep a dedicated travel fund, so it's separate from my main savings, and even small, steady deposits really add up.
I like to think of vacations as an investment in rest and happiness, not just another expense. How about you, do you plan your trips around good deals, or save up first and then choose your destination?

I set pu a small "vacation fund" separate from my main savings, so I can add to it guilt-free every month. It helps to treat it like any other goal-just part of the budget. I also cut back a bit on small extras, like takeout or impulse buys, and remind myself that those little trade-offs make the trip even more enjoyable later.

I used to feel guilty saving for vacations too, like it wasn't "productive" enough. What helped me was setting up a separate "fun fund" in an app like Revolut or Monzo, where I automatically move a small amount each week. That way, it doesn't feel like I'm taking away from bills or savings because it's already budgeted. Once I started doing that, I could actually enjoy planningt rips without the guilt, knowing the essentials were already covered.
